Yallatup Regal Remedy / Abbagail

www.doongarastockhorses.com.au

Regal Power was acquired by Geoff and Wendy Wallen in 1998 at 10 months of age. He was bred by Francis Gough. When this young colt was only weeks old Geoff laid his eyes on him and immediately inquired if he would be for sale. Francis’s daughter Vicki Gough took the young colt to the RNA and entered him into the under 2 years and led class at 9 months of age and he won his class. After this win he was to start his career as the future Doongara Stockhorse stallion. He was broken in at 19 months and never achieved anything less than remarkable.

Regal Power went on to win National, State and Society Awards and Championships. In 2000 Regal Power won the prestigious Prince of Wales Award (presented by the ASH Society for excellence in Showing, Futurities and Performance) and as a two year old was the youngest horse ever to do so.

He was an Open Campdrafter with many places and wins in campdrafting including juveniles. 2006 saw Regal Power claim 3rd in the Warwick Gold Cup Stallion Draft, against 110 of the best stallions in the country.

Regal Powers progeny have also equalled his level of success with many going on to win National Futurities/Maturities and State Championships.

Some of Regal Powers outstanding achievements
  • 2006 National Championships Warwick Led Champion Stallion
  • 2006 National Championships Warwick Reserve Champion Hack
  • 2006 National Championships Warwick Winner National Working Stallion
  • 2006 3rd Warwick Gold Cup Stallion Draft
  • 2005 Fernvale Golden Stirrup Open Campdraft winner
  • 2004 Numerous placings in Campdrafts including juveniles
  • 2003 South East Queensland Open Challenge Series Winner
  • 2002 National Maturity Winner
  • 2002 South East Queensland Maturity Series Winner
  • 2001 National Futurity – Prolific Winner (3rd Led, 1st Hack, 3rd Time trial) NB a fall in the wet conditions in the working class cost Regal Power the win.
  • 2001 South East Queensland Futurity Series Winner
  • 2000 Prince of Wales recipient awarded by the Stockhorse Society. The Prince of Wales award is presented to one high profile performance horse each year. To be eligible the horse must be successful in three event categories.

Sadly Regal Power contracted Hendra Virus while at a vet clinic and had to be put down on the 8th July, 2008.

Regal Power was so much more to Geoff than a horse; he was more than a friend or a business partner. “He provided me with so much enjoyment, and made me look and feel better than I was. We had a great connection”. Regal Power did not finish the job he was sent here to do, but his progeny are following in his footsteps and doing him proud.
