About Snowymountains Stock Horses

Old Ingebirah is a working cattle property in the Snowy Mountains of NSW, and home to Snowy River Horseback Adventure. From here we operate Australian Stock Horse stud Snowymountains Stock Horses.

In the year 1999 we moved ourselves and our horses to the Snowy Mountains to follow our dreams of a life that put our horses first and not wherever we could fit them in. Believing that it must be possible to combine business with pleasure, we bought Snowy River Horseback Adventure.

We then endeavoured to create the best horse trekking business possible with of course the best horses for the job.

In 2002 we registered our own stud prefix - Snowymountains Stock Horses.

This business has given us a stage to develop the wonderful horses we have bred over the past 10 years. While our passion is campdrafting we require our horses to be versatile. We have focused on breeding beautifully conformed horses with temperament and ability that makes them a pleasure to spend time on.

It is nothing for these horses to campdraft on the weekend before giving a guest the holiday of a lifetime riding through the rugged mountain terrain they call home.

With guests coming from all over the world to ride with us our horses are emissaries for the Australian Stock Horse breed.

In 2010 it was time to bring Snowymountains Stock Horse Stud into the next dimension. Combining forces with associate Steve McGrath we formed a company to further advance the growing stud.

Based in Bowral, Steve offers an ideal location from which to stand young sire Power N Passion with first class facilities, readily accessible to mare owners and Nowra Equine Breeding Facility.

Steve’s daughter Julia is a dedicated and very successful show rider, while Steve’s son Aiden has his sights set on the world of Campdrafting.

Julia is enjoying planning a calendar of shows to promote the Snowymountains horses in the ASH showring. For the future we look forward to further developing ‘Old Ingebirah’ into a top class horse stud with first class facilities for the wonderful horses we are breeding here.
